Imagine a world where the forgotten art of repair, the skill of rejuvenating what's been discarded as broken, is not only revived but celebrated. Our venture, The Fixers, embodies this transformative idea, merging the satisfaction of mending with the power of human redemption.
In a society quick to replace rather than repair, we've overlooked the value of fixing—both in objects and in people. Particularly in the youth justice system, where young individuals are often labeled as irreparable, we see a parallel. Just as a broken object is cast aside, these youths are dismissed by society. Yet, what if we could show that repair is not only possible but empowering?
The Fixers is more than a project; it's a movement. By mobilising a team equipped with tools and parts, we venture into communities with a mission: to fix what's been given up on. From household items to the spirits of marginalised youths, our goal is to mend and revitalise. But it's not just about the physical act of fixing; it's about the journey—documenting the process, sharing the challenges and triumphs, and most importantly, learning and teaching valuable skills along the way.
Our initiative draws inspiration from the inherent skills and resilience found in these young individuals. Recognising their potential, we redirect their talents from acts of survival to acts of creation and repair. Through hands-on involvement, they not only contribute to tangible improvements but undergo personal transformations, becoming symbols of hope, resilience, and courage.
The Fixers is an invitation to rethink our disposable culture, to see value in repair, and to recognize the untapped potential in all of us. Armed with a truck full of tools and a heart full of determination, we're setting out to demonstrate that fixing is not just about repairing objects but about healing communities and restoring hope.
Join us on this journey. Together, we can redefine what it means to fix, turning the act of repair into a celebration of skill, community, and second chances. Coming soon to a community near you, The Fixers: where we're not just fixing things, we're fixing futures.
